Corvo, the smallest of the Azores Islands, has only one daily flight. When we were supposed to fly, it was cancelled and they sent us by boat. What a great experience.
There are great places for spotting in the Azores, but there is minimal traffic. Here on the Faial Island there is an A320 flight from/to Lisbon three times a week, plus a few Dashes to neighboring islands, and that's it. The length of the runway is 1,595 m, there in the background is the stratovolcano Mount Pico on the neighboring island, the highest mountain in Portugal (2,351 m).
Alaska Airlines only joined One World a year ago, so seeing their aircraft in the alliance colors is still unusual for me. Alaska Airlines has two hundred Boeing 737s in service, of which 91 are in the 737-900 variant.
