Tickets from Prague to Izmir and La Palma now available directly through Smartwings

The Smartwings airline has initiated ticket sales for a destination previously serviced from Prague, but with the entire capacity of the aircraft booked by a travel agency so far. This destination is Izmir, Turkey.

Smartwings will commence flights to Izmir from May 30, 2024, operating twice a week (every Monday and Thursday). Flight QS 1198/9 will remain in operation until September 30. The flight schedule is as follows: PRG 19:00 - ADB 22:35/23:25 - 01:10 PRG. Izmir Airport, which primarily serves the city of Izmir with its population of over 4.3 million, was opened in 1987 and welcomed a total of 9,837,110 passengers in 2022. The airport also boasts rail connections.

Izmir becomes the second destination in Turkey to which Smartwings directly sells tickets from Prague. Efforts were made to operate year-round flights to Antalya from Prague this year, but they succumbed to the competitive pressures exerted by Turkish SunExpress.

Smartwings has also introduced ticket sales from Prague to the Spanish island of La Palma. This marks the fifth of the Canary Islands to be served by Smartwings. Smartwings currently operates flights to Fuerteventura (from Brno and Prague), Gran Canaria (from Prague), Lanzarote (from Prague), and Tenerife (to the southern Reina Sofia Airport from Brno and Prague). Flights to La Palma will operate once a week (every Tuesday). The flight schedule for route QS1218/9 is as follows: PRG 12:00 - SPC 16:15/17:05 - 22:50 PRG. La Palma has faced challenges in recent years, particularly due to the pandemic and the volcanic eruption of the local active stratovolcano Cumbre Vieja in 2021. The Prague – La Palma route will remain operational until October 1, 2024.
